Meet absolutely fantastic girl from Manila - Gela.
Please, tell us something about yourself.
A 22-year-old from Manila still figuring out what she wants to be when she grows up.
What is your biggest passion?
Love, beauty, and music.
When did your fashion adventure begin?
I’ve always enjoyed dressing up ever since I was little. I liked getting into frilly
Sunday dresses, having my hair up in ribbons, and doing the same things with my Barbie dolls. But I think really came out of my shell in college, when I didn’t have to wear a uniform to school anymore. I came from a private, all-girls, Catholic elementary and high school, so there were a lot of restrictions back then. When I got to college, where we could we wear whatever we wanted, that was when I started to actually explore more of what I could do with the items in my closet.
Could you describe your personal style? Who/what has the biggest influence on it?
This is always the hardest question to answer for me! But I guess my style is more
laid back and casual, but feminine. I don’t follow trends that much. As long as I’m
happy and comfortable in what I’m wearing, I’m good to go.
Fashion blogs and style sites have always been a great source of inspiration. I find it amazing how easily we can access fashion from all over the world through the Internet. It’s wonderful that a lot of people are more fashion conscious now and
exciting to see how each one expresses themselves differently.

Does Manila, where you live, influences your style?
One factor I always take into consideration is Manila weather. It can be quite humid over here, and also the rains come unpredictably, so I think it’s important to stay practical, too.
Tell us about your favourite designers. Are 'high fashion' and newest trends important for you?
I don’t really have a favorite designer, honestly. I believe every designer has a unique style that you can’t really compare to another, so it’s kind of difficult to judge. I also don’t go crazy over the latest trends and haute couture as much as other fashion enthusiasts, but I do have a strong appreciation and love for art, design, and anything beautiful. I love all kinds of eye-candy!

How often do you shop?
Probably around once a month, on average. If I can afford it.
What items are most and least important to you when it comes to your personal style?
Most important: a large canvas tote bag to fit all of my junk into. Least important: sneakers, just because I don’t own any.
Could you describe most precious item in your closet?
My hats! I collect them. They’re my favorite accessory! Always a lifesaver when it comes to bad hair days.

Could you tell us about your own 'fashion rules'?
My fashion rule is not to follow fashion rules. Don’t take fashion too seriously, and just have fun with it.
Your favourite music/movie/book?
Music – 90’s or early 2000 pop! Anything that I could sing loud and proud to.
Movie – I’ve got tons! To name a few: Something’s Gotta Give, Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion, and Aladdin.
Book – Since I’m getting nostalgic, I’m going to say the Harry Potter series. Those books will always have a special place in my heart.
Your guilty pleasure?
My favorite television series! A few shows I’m addicted to right now: Modern Family, Happy Endings, Pretty Little Liars, and True Blood.
What is your favourite free-time activity?
I usually spend time with my boyfriend, watch my favorite television shows, go out to eat or watch a movie, go (window) shopping, and play with my baby nephew.

What do you think about fashion blogs? Do you read them? If yes, what is your favourite one?
I love that blogs enable us to share a bit of our lives to other people (complete strangers, at that!) and how they make the world a little smaller somehow. Actually, it’s kind of creepy when you really think about it, but it’s nice that we can all inspire each other with our stories.
I’ve so many favorite blogs; I can’t pick just one! Off the top of my head, I can’t get enough of Blushing Ambitions, A Plus B in the Sea and The Capricious Club.
What is your fashion advice for readers?
Your smile is the best accessory. Dress up for no one else but yourself.
